TRAVEL
 GENERAL INFORMATION

Train Chaperones: Train chaperones will accompany students. Coordinators and other Summer Works Student Exchange staff will be present at the train station for all departures and arrivals.

Meals: Meals are provided for depending on length and time of travel. Snacks are at the expense of the student.

Meeting Time & Place: Prior to date of travel, coordinators will advise students of the meeting time and place of their group. This meeting is mandatory for attendance and luggage registration.

INDEPENDENT TRAVEL

In general, independent travel will not be allowed and, all youth must travel with their group and chaperone. Special circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis and, will only be approved in exceptional circumstances.

BAGGAGE POLICY

Prior to departure, participants will be informed of the baggage requirements for travel on VIA Rail / airline (if applicable)

STUDENTS TRAVELLING FOR 12 HOURS AND MORE ARE RECOMMENDED TO BRING WITH THEM:
  • Sleeping bag/blanket & pillow
  • Toiletries
  • Change of clothing
  • Snacks
  • Pocket money
  • Camera
  • Books and other sources of entertainment

 Schedule

Outbound Phase
From their community of origin (home), all participants travel towards their summer destination (host family). Estimated travel dates will occur between July 1 and July 4, 2010.
Inbound Phase
From their summer locations (host family), all participants return directly to their community of origin (home). Return travel is estimated to occur between August 14 and August 18, 2010.
